Amor schreibt in Männerherzen
Mit der Kreide leichtem Zug;
Was daran vorüber schwebet,
Tilgt die Inschrift leicht genug.
Aber in der Weiber Herzen
Gräbt er, wie in festen Stein,
Mit dem Griffel und mit Schwärze
Der Geliebten Namen ein.
So, verwittert auch die Farbe,
Muß die tiefgeprägte Narbe
Dennoch ewig sichtbar seyn.
